LDAPA is the Pennsylvania State Affiliate of Learning Disabilities Association of America. Like LDA of America, LDAPA believes that every individual has the right to a quality education and every individual with a learning disability can succeed at school and work. Early identification, intervention, and remediation are important for each individual. Advocating for and protecting the rights of all individuals with Learning Disabilities is the mission of LDAPA.
LDAPA is a 501(c) (3) non profit organization of volunteers founded in 1964 and incorporated in 1966 by parents of children with learning disabilities. We serve the interests of over 142,000 students currently identified as students with specific learning disabilities eligible for services in Pennsylvania schools, as well as their families and the thousands of other young adults and adults in our communities who have learning disabilities.
LDAPA holds an annual conference that provides current, beneficial information to parents, professionals and individuals.
LDAPA provides information on its web site and publishes a newsletter four times a year.
LDAPA Board Members and others serve as ambassadors and advocates for children and adults with learning disabilities in numerous capacities and arenas. They serve on state and local committees, advisory boards, transition councils and other organizations.
LDAPA volunteers staff the office telephone to respond to requests for assistance, information and referrals.
